Home Office Furniture Desk-Do We Need The Extra Word?

This is just an aside, but when I first heard the term "home office furniture desk" I was a little taken aback. The first thought that came to mind was, "That just doesn't sound right because that term is so..repetitive." Well anyway, what sounds better to me is "home office desk". Speaking of which, without this essential addition to any home office, or even a company office, work might seem a little bit harder.

When I say harder, I mean that working may seem unorganized, inefficient, and time consuming. When I finally got a desk in my office it seemed to lighten my load a bit because I finally had an organized way to put away papers, documents, and mail.

My Experience Shopping For a Home Office Furniture desk

Last time I went shopping for a home office furniture desk, I searched high and low and had a couple of pleasant surprises. First, that was the first time I had bought a desk of my very own and didn't know that measuring the space and comparing it to the desk measurements online was not enough!! Do not begin to assume that it will fit just because the measurements fit! Rule number one: Do not buy a desk online until you have gotten a chance to lay your eyes on it without a computer screen in the middle of the two of you. Second: I was surprised at how many desks Walmart and Target had. I just thought that what you saw in their stores represented the items the store carried. There were so much more online that were not even in stores. And those weren't the only stores. The same went for Staples, Officemax, and Sears. The only store that pretty much had the same stuff online as they did their show floor is IKEA. But I wouldn't recommend buying a desk from there unless it is just going to be for show!

If You Are Looking For A Home Office Furniture Desk....

I absolutely love to go furniture shopping. There are so many fresh new designs and ideas for your living space. When I first moved into the dorms during my first year of college, the most enjoyable part about that whole experience was when my mom and I went shopping for all of my furniture. Of course shopping for miniature dorm furniture is very different than shopping for, let's say, a home office furniture desk.

I have had the experience of shopping for one of those also and I will say that wasn't as fun. Although, all the fresh new designs and ideas are still out there. I eventually bought my desk from Staples for a reasonable price. But the store that enjoyed the most was IKEA. They definitely had so many more designs and ideas for optimally maximizing your work space. They had more options as well.

One thing I will advise anyone who is out there looking for a home office furniture desk, is to NOT PURCHASE ONLINE! Sure you can take all the measurements and match them with the measurements on the advertising-but trust me-you have to go see the desk for yourself.
